Almost Full.
The tracks at Reading Outer Station were almost completely full on Saturday, September 13, 2025 while passengers boarded their Reading, Blue Mountain & Northern (RBMN) train to Jim Thorpe. From left to right: MP15DC no. 1543; RDC-1 no. 9167; and RDC-1 no. 9164, boarding passengers in preparation for departure as train OSJT to Jim Thorpe. The two RDCs on adjacent tracks provide a nice comparison of the two "phases" of RDC design: the original "phase 1" at left, with larger, square front-facing windows; and the later "phase 2" at right, with smaller front-facing windows and higher headlight placement. Phase 2 also introduced other mechanical upgrades, such as higher capacity air conditioning and 300 hp engines (compared to the 275 hp engines on phase 1 cars). The plows are another visible difference between the two cars, but this detail moreso varied by railroad preference rather than design phase.
