“MNR Geometry Meets BNSF OCS @ Croton”
On the morning of September 19th, 2025, Metro-North Railroad’s self-propelled Engineering Inspection Vehicle “IC 2020” rests in Croton North Yard, while CSX P977, towing the BNSF Ryder Cup OCS train, sits across the Hudson Line in Croton West Yard at Croton-on-Hudson, New York. P977 encountered third-rail clearance issues that required a layover for further inspection by both MTA railroads.
IC 2020 was commissioned by Metro-North in 2016 and completed by ENSCO Incorporated in 2020. It features the latest laser, optical and inertial sensor systems to analyze the condition of the rail and track infrastructure, alerting onboard Metro-North engineering specialists to any track anomalies.
