Remarks & Notes
D40s and steel hoppers, an old-school coal train in the early 90s. An eastbound load passes by the iconic elevator structure at Clarence. The train is about 46 miles from the next crew change point at Clinton. I was amazed to see how the westbound main was still jointed and tough in a few photos. Left-hand running with ATC was still in use until around 2007, when UP put CTC through Iowa. Scanned negative from September 1991. Scanned slide from 9-12-93.

Railroading in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, basically anything but the 2000s.
