“Gap Insurance”

On July 7th, 2025, the Amtrak Switching crew, utilizing P42DCs 46 & 122, uncouple from the rear of Northeast Regional Train 170(7) after shoving it out of the Dead Section just west of Mill River Interlocking on the Shore Line section of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor in New Haven, Connecticut. This dead section is the location where the catenary voltage changes from 12.5KV to 25KV.
