The hills of the Buffalo Ridge are bathed in beautiful evening light as a westbound Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern train rolls south out of Lake Benton. In a few moments, they'll swing around to the northwest and make a beeline for the South Dakota border and the end of their run at Aurora. With word of the arrival of GE locomotives on the property in Huron, I enjoyed every minute of seeing and hearing these SD40-2s at work on a perfect summer evening.
