The teak-wood dining car Dr4ü # 10222 of SBB Historic was transported by road (M.Brunner Transporte Luzern Littau) from the Swiss Museum of Transport (VHS) external storage facility in Rain to Winterthur freight yard last night and unloaded onto the tracks this morning. After being weighed, the car, which was built in 1914 by Ringhoffer in Prague as Dr4ü 22 for the SSG, was pushed into the depot of Historic Rail Services GmbH (HRS), where it will be refurbished for the “Express Train 1930” by 2027. The car was originally labeled “Compagnie Suisse des Wagon-Restaurants / Schweizerische Speisewagen Gesellschaft” above the windows and bore an emblem modeled on the CIWL logo with a Swiss coat of arms in the center on the side wall. The current address SBB CFF with the Swiss coat of arms in brass probably dates from the late 1940s, when the car was taken over by the SBB. After being taken out of service around 1960 after around 8 million kilometers, the car was exhibited at the Swiss Transport Museum in Lucerne from 1961 onwards. On May 5, 1982, it underwent a revision in Pratteln. Externally, the car is in surprisingly good condition.
