New Paint At The Art Museum. On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, the newest application of Amtrak's newest paint scheme made its debut. Metroliner Cab Car AMTK 9635 was selected as the first of this class of Budd to wear the new scheme, seen just after departing 30th Street Station leading Train 645 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the background. The Metroliners have lived a long life in multiple roles. The only equipment left in the revenue fleet that pre-dates Amtrak's creation, they operated as self-propelled MUs before being towed by motors, and eventually seeing conversion to cab control cars. It appears that Amtrak is working its way through the fleet to apply the Phase VII, but at present, this is the only one of the nearly 60-year-old Metroliners that wears the new paint scheme.
