Pittsburg / Bay Point Transfer Station on the Yellow Line is a unique one in the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) system; there are no entrances or exits at the station - the only way to arrive is via train. As the name suggests, the station serves as a transfer point between the standard electric BART trains and the DMU trains that operate the two-stop Antioch extension known as eBART. The extension was built entirely different from conventional BART, using Stadler GTW DMU railcars instead of the standard third rail electric trains, and even a different rail gauge: 4'8 1/2" standard gauge versus typical 5'-6" BART broad gauge. Reportedly this was done for cost savings, as extending conventional BART would have cost 2 1/2 times as much. Stations and right of way were constructed to allow for eventual conversion into standard BART, though this would require entirely new track construction on the line. In this scene, Bombardier D class car 3206 leads a train into the station while Stadler GTW no. 104 waits for transferring passengers on the other side of the island platform.
