In Minot on a pleasant day (!) I caught the "Empire Builder" but I've forgotten which direction it was going. An even better catch was a visit to the tower at the SOO line crossing.

The wide open spaces of the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma have little service - one train for the entire state. South Dakota has none.
