“Merger on rival rails”
On the morning of July 2nd, while Metra’s morning NCS service began to wind down, Canadian National regional freight A490 from Wisconsin Rapids to Kirk Yard screams southwards down the Waukesha Sub with a leader that seems out of place! The Canadian Pacific (Kansas City) GE ES44AC, sporting the new merger scheme No. 8737 commands the train with a BNSF C44-9W trailing behind. It’s not the first time a CP locomotive has been on these rails as numerous other locomotives have, but in the new merger scheme, it is for the 8737. Both crew members aboard waves to me as they head towards the EJE in Mundelien.
