Remarks & Notes |
GTW 5817 waits to go south from Shafer Yard at Oakwood Junction. A West bound NS train pulls across the Diamond as it departs Oakwood Yard on the old Wabash Line. The ICG 86 foot boxcar is designed specifically for auto parts. The Edison Arches at Oakwood still stand. These Arches were built when Hennery Ford owned the DT&I. This was Fords attempt at Electrifying the Line. Two Test runs with Eclectic Locomotives were made in 1925. The Arches were built at the Rouge Plant Steelworks with rebar and Ford Concrete. |
