With CSX's Howard Street Tunnel project underway, the railroad worked out an agreement with Norfolk Southern to run two pairs of trains each direction along portions of the Harrisburg Division across Pennsylvania. Initially electing to run a pair of manifest trains and a pair of coal trains, the decision to end the coal trains came early on in the rerouting process, with a second pair of manifest trains added to the rotation. Symboled M409 and M410, the trains operated between Selkirk, NY and Waycross, GA, running in a 1X1 configuration to expedite transitioning from the CSX Cumberland Sub, to the Lurgan Sub up to Hagerstown, MD. Westbound M409's DPU, CSX 5200, shoves the train through the beautiful countryside of Cumberland County in the small village of Lee's Cross Roads, PA, just north of Shippensburg.
