An SBB line without overhead lines? Yes, the line from Solothurn to Büren an der Aare, part of the Solothurn-Lyss line. Passenger services were discontinued here in 1994, the overhead line was demolished and the track is still used for freight traffic as a siding from Solothurn to Arch. To celebrate his retirement, an SBB engine driver, who was very involved with the Zurich Steam Group and the DVZO, organized his own special train, which he ran himself from Zurich to Solothurn, first on the Eb 3/5 # 9 of the DVZO as a lead locomotive to Brugg AG, then on the A 3/5 # 705 of SBB Historic, operated by the Zurich Steam Group. The train ran from Solothurn to Leuzigen for water and a lunch break. On the left the Aare river and in the background the St.Urseren cathedral of Solothurn from the 18th century.
