Nearly three years since they were first stored at BNSF's Commerce Diesel Facility near Los Angeles, Santa Fe Bicentennial SD45-2 and Coaster F40 2105 finally commenced their journey to their new home at the Southern California Railway Museum in Perris, CA. The long-awaited move finally became a reality when temporary panel track was able to be laid connecting the Metrolink Perris Valley Sub with the SCRM museum tracks. Here, the two locomotives pass the Perris Santa Fe depot in the background and take their first steps onto the temporary track, with 5704 leaning heavily as the crew inches it forward. In a couple more feet, the BNSF locomotives shoving will cut away, and a SCRM train will couple to 5704, bringing the pair the final distance into their new home.
