Stop Here Soon? CSX M724-21 is returning from Theodore, AL on the evening of Sunday, October 21, 2018 as the sun has swung around to give us light on the engine’s nose. An interesting trio of 6508 (ex-CSX 6355, exx-SCL 1645, GP40-3), 2226 (Road Slug, ex-B&O 6909, GP-30) and 6409 (ex-C&O 6409, GP40-2) power the move back to the yard, as it passes the Gulf Quest Maritime Museum in Mobile, AL. The former Amtrak passenger platform, most recently utilized by the “Sunset Limited” until 2005, sits to the right in the photo, presently unused. This area has undergone signifcant change in recent years as Mobile prepares to become the terminal for the new Amtrak Mardi Gras service.
Photographs where trains and people mix, weather it's street running, plant switching or carrying a unit grain train out of an elevator, it will be put here.
