Remarks & Notes |
This eastbound coal train is struggling to make its way out of the Maquoketa River Valley 28 miles west of Dubuque. The grade out of Dyersville is the toughest on the Dubuque Sub between Waterloo and Dubuque. Back in the CCP era, trains worked harder than they do today. Bigger power keeps the speed up better than the solid geeps that were used in the past.
Scanned negative from February 1992. |
