At the top of Minnesota where US 53 and 71 terminate at the International Border, people pass the Minnesota, Dakota & Western Railway - the short line responsible for switching the Packaging Corporation of America mill in International Falls. MDW 22 sits near 2nd Avenue leading to Minnesota's only toll booth leading to Fort Frances, Ontario. The railroad has a spur crossing the border leading into Canada, but the mill in Fort Frances was demolished several years prior.
