San Diego-bound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 566 has P42DC 198 on the point (rather than the usual SC-44), and its six cars are also a bit unusual, as only half are technically Surfliner cars. The other three are "California Cars", typically used in northern and central California. The first car, recently arrived in the Los Angeles area, is painted in a variation of the "California Car" scheme, missing the orange on the sides of the doors, as well as the lettering. This car, AMTK 34981, is the former Amtrak "Superliner" 34081. (Orange, California – April 3, 2025)
