The full or empty ore trains in Mauritania have always been used free of charge by the locals. In recent years, a trend has emerged whereby the trains are increasingly being used by adventurers from all over the world for a ride. However, the journey is several hours long without any possibility of getting off, it is hot during the day and cold at night, the journey in a cloud of diesel fumes, the finest desert sand and dust from the iron ore is extremely unhealthy and dirty. There are also some accidents when climbing up or down from the wagons. The people here on the ore wagon have the longest part of the journey behind them, mostly in the dark, and the train is just a few minutes away from its destination in Nouadhibou after a journey of around 650 kilometers.
