Once Upon A Time On 11th Street. Under a dark sky, Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad (South Shore Freight) SD38-2s CSS 804 (ex-IAIS 154, exx-LLPX 2803, née-Reserve Mining 1239) and CSS 805 (ex-IAIS 155, exx-LLPX 2804, née Reserve Mining 1230) were rolling down 11th Street in Michigan City, Indiana on the frigid morning of February 18, 2020. Passenger service here was suspended on May 1, 2021 as the scene was completely changed to operate over a newly constructed separated double-track line. While the Insull era South Shore building was demolished in February, 2022, the historic terra cotta facade has been reportedly preserved to be included in a mixed purposed development to include commercial and residential space at this site. On October 25, 2023, NICTD resumed passenger service in Michigan City, Indiana.
