Back in 1998, the IC ran an employee special out of Waterloo to Iowa Falls and back. The train featured the IC E-units for power. Here, the units have a diverging clear into the siding at West Mills to run around their train. The tower still stands in 2024, the historical society now has it,
Constructed for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy and once served in commuter service in Chicago. The #100 was built in December 1949 as Burlington E8A...#9938A.The unit was rebuilt in 1973 and renumbered to BN 9901. It was sold to IC after retirement in 1992. The unit was sold again to Iowa Pacific Holdings in 2014. Looks like it is still maybe in Colorado? Scanned Slide from August 1998.
