In far western Iowa, the UP has a secondary mainline that comes out of St. Paul, towards Sioux City, and onto Council Bluffs. North of Sioux City, the CN and UP have joint trackage that UP dispatches. Also north of Sioux City, the joint track parallels the BNSF Marshall Sub out to Merrill. Here, a southbound UP grain is working thru Hinton. The signal in the foreground is the distant signal for the BNSF/UP crossing at Wren Tower. A BNSF is waiting for this guy to clear for the race into Sioux City.
