Remarks & Notes |
NORMAN OK Oct 22 1980 — Santa Fe SD40-2 5062 and a U-boat lead train 445 over the Lindsay Street crossing and past the City of Norman Street Department facility. Has Norman ever decided if the spelling is Lindsey or Lindsay? I remember street signs spelling it both ways. EMD built the unit (s/n 786225-5 in April-May 1979 and delivered it in blue body with yellow warbonnet. In February 1992 the San Bernardino shops rebuilt it as an SD40-2u. In April 1994 it underwent maintenance at Morrison Knudsen and got MKM marks below the road numbers on cab sides. on Sept 22 1995 it was transferred to Burlington Northern Santa Fe. On Jan 15 2000 it was renumbered BNSF 6721 and retained its yellow warbonnet livery. In July 2000 it was repainted in BNSF H1 livery with BNSF round logo on nose and large BNSF on long-hood sides. It was later repainted in BNSF swoosh livery and renumbered BNSF 1602. Corrections and/or additions welcome. My photo. |
