Lac d' Artouste station on about 1940 meter a.s.l. of the "Petit train d'Artouste", which is a narrow gauge (500mm, 19 3?4 in) tourist railway situated in the French Pyrenees. The line is 10 km (6.2 mi) long at an altitude of about 2000 m (6,561 ft). The line was originally built to facilitate the construction of the Artouste Lake Dam in 1920. Trains with diesellocomotives D # 13 and D # 8 "Momo". The line was built by the Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi as transport line for the construction of the power station dam for the Lake d'Artouste. From 1932 used as tourist railway. From 1938 to 1981 owned and operated by the SNCF. Today, the train is owned by Société Hydro-Electrique du Midi (SHEM), manager of the Artouste dam. SHEM has entrusted the tourist management of the train to the local authority. Operated by Etablissement Public des Stations d‘Altitude (EPSA).
