A classic view on the Gotthard mountain line, with the church of Wassen and a train heading straight north instead of south in the loops. But before the Gotthard base tunnel opened at the end of 2016, when trains were still running over the mountain line, the high-speed train "Giruno" did not yet exist. Since a freight train derailed in the Gotthard Base Tunnel on August 10 and both tubes are still closed, the "Girunos" now travel over the so-called panoramic route. RABe 501 # 026 "Basel-Stadt" and 501 # 001 "Ticino" of the SBB are running as train IC 10865 from Zurich to Lugano shortly before the Strahlloch tunnel between Wassen and Göschenen. In the background on the right is 2416 meter high Meiggelenstock.
