Amtrak’s Empire Builder cruises through Fisher River, Montana, on the morning of July 2, 2023. The train is powered by a pair of Siemens ALC-42 locomotives and is eastbound on BNSF’s Hi Line Subdivision.
This train, which runs between Chicago and Seattle and Portland, takes its name from James J. Hill, who founded the Great Northern Railroad and extended it from Minnesota to the Pacific Coast.
