To end a celebration of the 100 years since the opening of the complete Welsh Highland Railway Original locomotive Russell and replica Lynton and Barnstaple Railway Lyd double headed the regular train along the full length of the line symbolising the modern re-opening and the increasing co-operation between the Heritage Railway society and the operating Ffestiniog Railway Company. The pair return to Porthmadog in a lucky patch of sun near Pont Croesor with the Snowdonia mountains behind
