Remarks & Notes |
Four-Track Trench.
New York City Transit Authority (NYCTA) R46 no. 5812 (Pullman-Standard, 1975-1978) is the lead motor on a Manhattan-bound N train seen arriving at 18th Ave Station on the BMT Sea Beach Line. This line is one of two subway lines that are built in four-track open trenches, the other being the incredibly photogenic Brighton Line. Unlike the Brighton Line, the middle tracks here are not used for express service and there are no platforms on these tracks - in fact the Dual Contracts drawings for the line label them as freight tracks! |
