50 years of Ge 4/4 II! Locomotive # 611 "Landquart", currently on the road in a colorful advertising livery for Login, was delivered to the Rhaetian Railway on May 30, 1973 as first of the series by SLM and BBC. Here, it pulls the Regio Express 1732 from Disentis/Mustér to Chur, leaving the 299 meter long Dabi tunnel between Trin and Reichenau-Tamins in the gorge of the Vorderrhein. A total of 23 locomotives of the 1700 kW Ge 4/4 II were built in two series until 1985, of which 21 are still in daily service today. The newly established "Green & Chrome" foundation is lobbying the RhB to have locomotive # 611 largely restored to its delivery condition before the end of this year, i.e. with round lower headlights, painted green with inscriptions in chrome. The locomotive will then possibly pull the new "Landwasser Shuttle" train between Filisur and Alvaneu from 2024 and remind of the time of the 1970' and 1980' years. The little worn out baggage car D # 4219 behind the locomotive was built in 1980 and had, for some time, a pantograph on the roof and a transformer built in to serve long trains with head end power for air conditioning/heating.
