Remarks & Notes
To dramatically show the impact of war and terror on railroads, SNCF's 2-8-0 steam locomotive 140 A # 259 lies in the ballast at the "Cité du Train" railroad museum in Mulhouse. The 140 A # 259 was built in 1928 by Société Franco-Belge for the Chemins de fer du Nord, with 1380 HP and 105 km/h maximum velocity. This powerful 4-cylinder compound locomotives were named "Boeuf" (ox). 280 of this type were built from 1912 to 1928.
