Norfolk Southern autorack train #321 (East Point,GA - Jacksonville,FL) speeds south on the GS&F through the unincorporated community of Clinchfield,GA.
This small middle Georgia town has strong ties to that of the Clinchfield Railroad as it was founded by George L. Carter who built the CRR and founded Kingsport,TN. Carter is known more for his ties to the Clinchfield Coal Company but it was here in middle Georgia that he started the Penn-Dixie cement plant adjacent to the Southern Railway. The plant has only grown since its construction in the early 1920's and is now owned and operated by Cemex.
