High Hood Blocks Wide Cab. On Friday, April 14, 2023, one of New York, Susquehanna, and Western Railway's repainted SD70M-2s led SU99 out of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey for the first time. NYSW 4066 (née-NS 2684, SD70M-2) had been on the railroad for a little over 2 years, and got its turn in the paint booth as it joins the "yellow and black" fleet. A premature end to the daylight chase came as the consistx stalled while grinding up the hill, but SJ-1 arrived from Sparta to pull the train and get things moving again.
Leased Norfolk Southern 5212 (née-SOU 5212, GP38-2, EMD, 1/1977) was in Sparta, New Jersey and came down as “SJ-1” to lend a hand and pull the train up the mountain. It was added at the crossing at Green Pond Road in Newfoundland, New Jersey.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
