| MILW 988 leads a trio of GP20ms sitting at BN's Rice's Point Yard, the former main yard of NP in Duluth. These "GP20 Uglies" were recently rebuilt from MILW GP9s. MILW used NP/BN's line with trackage rights between St. Paul and Duluth/Superior. Note former NP Alco S-2 switchers in the background. NP located many of their Alco switchers and road switchers in Duluth/Superior. As BN retired the switchers, remaining road switchers ended up in the Pacific Northwest, lasting to about 1980-81. |
