Remarks & Notes |
You spin me right round right round. This is the last active roundhouse and turntable combo in Washington state. Interbay is also home of Seattle's Fishermans Terminal, across the street from the roundhouse. There were better times for this yard before 2009. Like much of the industry in Seattle, these businesses are succumbing to lucrative real estate valuations underfoot and probably will be toast. Already yard jobs at Interbay were slashed in half and BNSF made an effort to close the hump yard in 2020. The fate of GN 3604 on the turntable doesn't look too good either (I posted a photo of this locomotive earlier, photo # 813328). BNSF assigns a GN reporting mark to locomotives near retirement or put out to pasture like the SD9 in Skykomish that has been lovingly repainted as a GN locomotive but still owned by BNSF. |
