Derailment cleanup crews have just switched on the floodlights at the Columbus Ave. overpass in Sandusky, Ohio, a couple hours after the first 17 cars on NS train 310 derailed while negotiating a crossover at CP240 on the NS Chicago Line. All 17 cars were loaded with liquid wax, most of which were punctured in the stack up, resulting in a thick pool of wax settling in the dip in the road below the mainline. A liquid trail of wax from cars derailed out of frame to the right is visible in the bottom right. After working through the night and the entire following day, cleanup crews were able to reopen both main tracks 30 hours later.
