Amtrak’s Empire Builder 7 makes its way westbound at Gold Bar in the morning hours on the scenic sub. Recent wildfires that had swept the area have since been largely put out despite Grotto-Skykomish still seeing moderate smoke levels. The pass is recovering as fall begins and the first signs of plant life color change start to appear.
