On 12/20/2010, vintage South Carolina Central power takes a cut of cars into Hartsville on 12/20/2010. I'm at a grade crossing, but for most of this railroad's existence, I would have been in the start of their yard. Prior to that, this was CSX track, but even before that, it began as Atlantic Coast Line. Some years after South Carolina Central took over, they moved the yard to Floyd, SC and kept this track as it's sole remnant.
The engine is a former Santa Fe GP7u, ATSF #2027. A few years after making this photo, the South Carolina Central changed ownership from RailAmerica to Genesee and Wyoming. This unit was repainted into their corporate scheme and given a new number, #1603.
