Out Of Captivity. After spending almost a year working inside the confines of Oak Island Yard in Newark, NJ, Norfolk Southern Corp 1700 (ex-Conrail 6654, née EL 3669, SD45-2, Erie Lackawanna Tribute) was out on the road on Conrail Shared Assets Train BY-1 on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Paired with NS 1702 (ex-CR 6659, née-EL 3674, SD45-2) in the regular NS paint scheme, the two have been together since being built by EMD in 1972. NS 1700 was repainted into the EL paint scheme in 2015, and has since been assigned to Conrail Shared Assets. After spending many years primarily assigned to OI-16 or PR-32 and working on the Chemical Coast Line, it does not have the proper PTC equipment to run on the New Jersey Transit Newark Division, and has recently been assigned to other jobs. It is seen crossing the former Baltimore and Ohio Railroad AK Bridge (Arthur Kills) from Staten Island, New York into Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
