August in the Cumberland Valley
On a beautiful August afternoon, Norfolk Southern train 13R (Enola, PA-Columbia SC manifest) rolls past a sea of green heading east down the NS Lurgan Branch in Lees Crossroads, PA. As the Lurgran Branch makes its way between Harrisburg, PA and Hagerstown, MD, it traverses through Pennsylvania's fertile Cumberland Valley. All along the line can be seen high crops such as soybeans and corn this time of year. This is why August is my favorite time of year to railfan this line!
Behind the second unit was an SD40E. A very nice surprise and catch to see these still roaming the rails!
