Mixed Comet Salad: A westbound NJ Transit train with a fairly healthy mix of Comet IIM, III, IV, and V cars. Such mixes of equipment would cause havoc with some computer systems on board the train. Also, unless delicately handled, the braking could be rather rough due to uneven braking force inherent in such mixes. Within a few years, NJ Transit would no longer use mixed consists like this one in revenue service, opting for more uniformed trainsets.
