Tuesday evening, I ran out to Kansas City with the intention of sticking around long enough to get some night shots, and imagine my surprise when Stephen Priest, and his crew from https://www.classonemodelworks.com/ were there with the same plan! They got the headlights temporarily wired up, along with magnetic puck lights that were serving as step, frame, and number board lights.
Fresh out of its rebuild at Mid-America Car in Kansas City, the unit was dropped off at KCUS on June 13th, with public display beginning on Flag Day, June 14th. It will be on display throughout the ATSF Historical & Technical Society's annual convention, which is being held in nearby Overland Park, KS.
Big thanks to Stephen Priest for spearheading this project, to BNSF for the donation of the locomotive, to MAC for all of the body work on it, and all of the other sponsors. The unit looks incredible!
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
