Byers Canyon on the Colorado River is one of the first of many the river fortuitously carved for the fledgling Denver and Salt Lake and Denver and Rio Grande railroads. A spring day finds UP 6852 rolling empty hoppers into the 8 mile canyon along railroad that defies geology in its path.
