An EMD factory built GP20, UP487, idles at Albina Yard engine facilities with GP30 no. 839 on a dreary December day in 1974. This unit featured the flared 48 inch rear fan plus a 36 in. fan covered by a winter hatch. The UP Omaha rebuilds appeared to have two rear fans, but they were both covered by a large single winter hatch. The air reservoirs were mounted above the fuel tank on the 487, compared to the Omaha rebuilds, which appeared to have them inside the hood.
