| The mercury is sitting at -33C (-27F) with an ice fog still hanging around Englehart just after sunrise. The frigid temperatures are lifting the powers’ exhaust high up into the sky, ironically looking a lot like the T&NO steam engine 701 displayed on the left side of the frame. The extreme cold is also creating air problems and other headaches for the crew, usually departing around 06:00, 214 would finally get away from the Englehart SCL at 12:05 providing the opportunity to catch a rare southbound winter run in great lighting. A crisp but gorgeous day as long as you had a good pair of mitts. |
