Tehachapi
A SD70ACE leads a southbound stack up the 2%+ grade near Caliente, CA. There have been several proposals to to build a new alignment to by-pass the severe grades of Tehachapi Pass but the costs were just too high to ever have the projects materialize. Modern AC power makes the challenge slightly easier, but the mountain is still a obstacle that battles machine and man against gravity.
