Aftermath of the accident that happened at Tampere station last Sunday. Two VR class Sm3 pendolino high speed trainsets were supposed to be connected together, but somehow the coupling happened with way too much speed resulting in the noses of both units getting squished together and derailing a few wagons. As I came later in the evening to take this shot, the two units had been pulled apart and the rerailing had started for the derailed second wagon of Sm3 number 7013.
The trains had no passengers during the accident and no one got injured. The cost of this accident is estimated to be over 1.5 million euros
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
