A four pack of warbonnets hustles through Willard, NM on a late winter's morning, having recently crossed the Manzano mountains on the long grade out of the Rio Grande valley. Now the landscape is suddenly a flat expanse. The train is probably the Modesto-Streator "wine train" based upon the lengthy cut of insulated 60ft. boxcars. The signals in the distance at the west end of the siding indicate that the Clovis Subdivision was still largely single track CTC at this time, as Santa Fe/BNSF struggled with capacity demands.
