The usual high-horsepower SP/SSW four-axle power leads CSX intermodal train 144 as it passes Roanoke Junction. The diverging line originally went to Roanoke, but by the time of the photo had been cut back to Lafayette, and spun-off by NS to the Abernathy group as the Pine Belt Southern. The branch and the junction are gone now.
Photos taken in the Deep South--primarily Alabama and Georgia--from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Featured railroads include the ICG, the West Point Route, SCL, Southern, Frisco, and even KCS.
