Remarks & Notes
Cogwheel steamlocomotive with upright boiler H 1/2 # 7, built in 1873 by the SLM Winterthur as very first locomotive, is shoving car B # 5 of 1871 from Vitznau up to Rigi Kulm, between Grubisbalm and Freibergen, with Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and the Alps in the background. Left from the locomotive, you can see the steamship "Uri" cruising from Lucerne to Flüelen and nearing Vitznau. In the background from left to right are Buochserhorn, far in the distance of 54 kilometer the 3689 meter high Rosenhorn (Bernese Alps), Stanserhorn, Brienzer Rothorn, the long ridge of the Bürgenstock and the Pilatus (18 kilometer from this position). The passenger car B # 5 with 30 seats was built in 1871 by the Schweizerische Centralbahn Works in Olten for the Rigi Bahn. Later, in 1938, it was converted to a freight car and was then new rebuilt as passenger car in 2008 for service together with locomotive # 7 in 2009 (celebration of 50 years Swiss Museum of Transport, Lucerne, VHS). Locomotive # 7 is part of the collection of the VHS since 1959, but was lend out to the Rigi Bahnen in 1996/1997, 2009 and 2021 to 2023. In the basquet in front of the boiler, where was transported the luggage in the early years, 7 passengers enjoy the fresh air and beutiful view, dressed in a blue overcoat jacket.
