Remarks & Notes |
The snow that has blanketed CBQ 5629 (4-8-4) shows the streamlined nose to good effect. She was built in 1940 at the Burlington shops in Iowa and was one of 15 engines of its class designed for fast freight and passenger service. She made runs in her early years between Chicago and Denver and in the 1950’s ran freight between Denver and Alliance, Nebraska. It remained in service until 1963 and is one of only four Burlington locomotives of its type still in existence. 5629 is on display at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado. |
